On Saturday (2nd February), the Friends of the Colchester Archaeological Trust (FCAT) held their AGM at Roman Circus House. This was followed by their annual meeting at Lion Walk United Reformed Church in the town centre. Trust director Philip Crummy and several of our archaeologists gave short illustrated talks on the work of the Trust during the past year. There was a small display of recent finds, and the whole event was rounded off with tea and cakes. About 100 people attended.
Members of FCAT said that the meeting was very successful, being both informative and enjoyable, and that it was good to be able to see some recent finds. This year the finds were exceptionally interesting, including Roman brooches and children’s bangles from the Butt Road cemetery site which only finished last week. The cakes were very good, as well!
