The site offers a rare opportunity for volunteers to get involved with a commercial archaeological excavation. A team of volunteers is needed at the former hospital to help process the finds that we will be recovering. There is also an opportunity for one or two volunteers to join the digging team and learn about the process of archaeological excavation.
As a community project priority will be given to those with no previous experience.

The Trust is looking for finds processing volunteers who can help between 9.30 am and 3.30 pm, Monday to Friday throughout the project (starting February 24th). You would not be required to attend for the whole day, but being available for a morning or afternoon would be preferable.
We are also looking for volunteer excavators who would be available to join the team for a period of two weeks sometime between the 24th of February and the 1st of May.
By volunteering daily for two weeks it is hoped that volunteers will gain a knowledge of the skillset required to be an archaeologist and leave with a good understanding of the archaeological process. Spaces are very limited, but we will try and accommodate as many people as possible.
