Iron Age burial at Playgolf Colchester in the news

Today (8th February), a news item was published in the Daily Gazette (Essex) about the recent find of an Iron Age burial on the Trust site at Playgolf Colchester in Lexden. The item is titled ‘Ancient burial site is found at golf club’ and headlined ‘Items found during building work date back 2,000 years’, with a tag which quotes Trust director Philip Crummy: ‘This site is significant not just in terms of burial, but in underlining this link to the origin of Colchester’ (page 3). It includes a large photo. of the amphora from the burial, on the site, with two groundworkers and two Playgolf members of staff, and Trust archaeologists Don Shimmin and Chris Lister. The burial is an important discovery.
