Circus gets planning consent

Our second planning application – the one setting out our proposals for the laying out and display of the west end of the circus was given planning consent today. The plans include the garden of the former Sergeants’ garden where there is to be an interpretative display of the starting gates of the Roman circus.

The next step will be the purchase of the former Education Centre building when the Archaeological Trust will move into part of the building and start work on the outdoor displays. It is hoped this will happen very early in 2012.  The fitting out of the indoor interpretation centre in the building will follow subject to a successful second round of fund-raising.
